Ultradispersed subphases in molecular electronics

Abstract

The review is devoted to the systematization of experimental and theoretical results indicating the possibility of controlling the physicochemical properties of an entirely new class of molecular electronics (MOE) devices. MOE will define the key positions of technology in the 21st century. It is emphasized that the functional capabilities of MOE devices will be controlled by atoms, molecules, and cluster structures. Attention is focused on the fact that many issues of MOE instrument engineering are determined by the possibility of solving the problems of transport and tunneling of charge carriers through quantum-sized systems, i.e., ultradispersed subphases.
