Abstract

Results of an experimental study on the performance characteristics of loop heat pipes (LHPs) with acetone and ammonia are presented. The LHP casing was made of stainless steel and aluminum. The evaporator chamber was made of aluminum-oxide-based powder with a porosity of 60 to 70%. It is shown that LHPs with ammonia exhibit higher performance characteristics than LHPs with acetone and can be used, in particular, in combined cooling systems for mobile radio-electronic equipment in marine, aviation, and aerospace applications.
